1970 Plymouth Superbird

This genuine 1970 Plymouth Superbird coupe was originally built with a 440 V8, 4-speed manual transmission, and Dana rear end, and has completed a fresh rotisserie restoration with modern performance upgrades. The body was stripped to a bare shell and professionally acid-dipped, with new quarter panels installed during the restoration. The rust-free body is straight with excellent panel alignment, properly closing doors, and functioning headlight doors. It retains its aerodynamic nose cone, rear wing, windshield-pillar covers, and pushed-out rear window. The car was refinished in its original B5 Blue with a deep glossy finish, replaced Superbird decals, new glass, refreshed chrome and trim, a new black vinyl top, replaced weatherstripping, and new 15x8-inch Rallye wheels wrapped in new BFGoodrich tires with wider rear fitment. The black interior was completely restored with new wiring harnesses, carpeting, embroidered floor mats, front and rear seatbelts, rebuilt seats with new cushioning and upholstery, replaced door panels, a restored dashboard pad and instrument bezel, modern gauges, a retro-style stereo in the factory location, a restored steering wheel with the “Beep Beep” horn, a new rear package shelf, a new headliner, and the factory pistol-grip shifter. Power comes from a freshly built Mopar Mega Block 472 Hemi producing 610 horsepower. The engine features dual-quad carburetors, MSD ignition, coated headers, Hemi Orange paint, a factory-style air cleaner, and crinkle-finish valve covers. A CVF front-runner system includes billet pulleys and brackets, a serpentine belt, chrome Powermaster alternator, and chrome power-steering components. Cooling is handled by an upgraded aluminum radiator with a factory-style shroud. The engine compartment also includes a Wilwood master cylinder, functional three-speed windshield-wiper motor, complete battery hold-down, connected washer system, working horns, and a new vacuum system for the headlights. The engine bay is finished in B5 Blue. The trunk is finished in B5 Blue with solid metal floors, replaced weatherstripping, trunk mat, rear-seat divider, and wiring. The front suspension was upgraded with a Control Freaks system using tubular control arms, adjustable coilover gas shocks, and rack-and-pinion steering. The rear suspension has new leaf springs, bushings, and shocks. A complete Wilwood braking system includes replaced lines, hoses, emergency-brake cables, and drilled and slotted disc brakes at all four wheels. A custom TTI exhaust system uses an X-pipe and exits through the factory exhaust tips. The fuel system was completely replaced, including the tank. The engine is fitted with an extra-capacity oil pan. A rebuilt 18-spline A833 4-speed manual transmission sends power through a rebuilt driveshaft to the original Dana 60 rear end with 3.54 Sure Grip gearing. The original floors, including the 4-speed transmission hump, are solid rust-free metal painted B5 Blue, and welded front-to-rear subframe connectors provide additional strength.
