Vehicle Overview

This custom 1970 Chevrolet C10 pickup was completed in 2020 with less than 1,700 miles since completion and approximately $150,000 invested in the build. It is finished in custom Destroyer Gray with a black houndstooth interior and is powered by a GM Performance 502-cubic-inch crate engine producing 570 horsepower. The truck was featured as the October vehicle in the 1-800-Radiator 2026 calendar, selected as a 2025 MSRA Collector Car of the Year nominee, and featured as the Goodguys Magazine Goodride of the Month in March 2021. The rust-free body was extensively modified by removing and filling the emblems, moldings, marker lights, rain gutters, and stake pockets. The fuel filler was relocated, the front and rear smoothie bumpers were tucked into the body, the taillights were recessed flush, and a smooth tailgate and cowl hood were installed. The panels were precision-gapped, and the custom paint was polished to a glass-like finish. All smoked glass was replaced, the front and rear windows were flush-mounted, and the side vent windows were eliminated. A brushed-finish 1968 grille was installed along with LED headlights incorporating the turn signals. The truck rides on 17-inch Torque Thrust wheels with wider rear tires. The interior was stripped, painted satin gray, lined with HushMat sound insulation, and fitted with an updated wiring system. It features TMI sport seats with black houndstooth upholstery, full-size door panels, a center console with cupholders, fresh carpeting, a Lokar floor shifter styled like a manual shifter, custom pedals, a new headliner, Alcantara sun visors, a custom rearview mirror, a custom dash pad, updated gauges, custom climate controls, an Ididit tilt steering column, and a one-off CON2R steering wheel. Three-point retractable seatbelts were installed. The 502 V8 is equipped with a Thumpr camshaft, Bowtie aluminum cylinder heads and intake manifold, an 850 CFM Holley carburetor with electric choke, premium fuel lines, HEI ignition, and custom-coated headers routed around each side of the frame. The engine is dressed with custom diamond-blasted 502 valve covers and a complete serpentine accessory-drive system containing a Powermaster one-wire alternator, modern power steering, and a Classic Auto heating and air-conditioning system. Cooling is handled by an oversized aluminum radiator, aluminum water pump, overflow reservoir, and dual electric fans. The firewall and inner fenders were smoothed, a custom front filler panel was fabricated, and billet hood hinges were installed. The bed contains clean metal, extra-wide wheel tubs, stainless hardware, and a satin-gray finish, with the relocated fuel-filler door precisely installed in the wheel well. The custom frame is boxed and smoothed with added center structure, a driveshaft loop, and a rear notch above the axle. The Fat Man Fabrication Stage III front suspension uses stainless tubular control arms, polished adjustable coilover gas shocks, and rack-and-pinion steering. The rear suspension includes custom trailing arms, a panhard bar, and QA1 adjustable coilover gas shocks. The handcrafted exhaust system has a crossover pipe, MagnaFlow mufflers, turndown tailpipes, and a black powder-coated finish. The fuel system was completely replaced with a relocated fuel tank, and stainless-steel fuel and brake lines were installed. A Wilwood braking system provides drilled disc brakes at all four wheels. The engine retains its GM identification tag and is fitted with a high-torque starter. A Gear Star Level 3 4L60 overdrive automatic transmission uses a 3,500-rpm stall 10-inch torque converter and dual finned aluminum transmission coolers. Power is delivered to a rebuilt rear end equipped with an Eaton Positraction differential and 3.42 Motive gears. The underside metal is smooth and finished in satin black.
