Vehicle overview

Vehicle Overview

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS coupe received a frame-off Pro Touring restoration using mostly new parts and is finished in PPG Torch Red with an SS hockey-stick stripe and a black-and-white houndstooth interior. The body is laser straight with smooth contours, crisp lines, aligned panels, and consistent gaps. Exterior features include a cowl-induction hood, front and rear spoilers, RS hideaway headlights upgraded with a Detroit Speed electric conversion system, SS trim, clear glass, new rubber seals and window felts, and 18-inch Intro V-Rod billet wheels wrapped in Nitto performance radial tires, including 255/45ZR18 rear tires. The deluxe interior includes black-and-white houndstooth upholstery, factory-style gauges, a clock, tachometer, rosewood deluxe steering wheel, tilt steering column, and center console. Replaced interior components include the headliner, sun visors, rearview mirror, dash pad, gauge bezels, tilt column, steering wheel, door panels, center console, shifter, and carpeting. A Holley Sniper EFI touchscreen controller is mounted inside the glovebox, and a USB charging port is concealed beneath the ashtray door. Additional equipment includes Vintage Air electronic slide controls, a Bluetooth-compatible RetroSound Hermosa stereo, a hands-free microphone, a new American Autowire harness from front to rear, a working clock, and functional interior lights. Power comes from a 355-cubic-inch Chevrolet V8 rated at 350 horsepower and equipped with Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection, an Edelbrock intake manifold, Hooker headers, and an MSD distributor. The engine compartment also includes a Wilwood master cylinder with proportioning valve, chrome brake booster, Concept One front-runner system, polished power-steering pump, chrome water pump, polished 200-amp alternator, chrome Vintage Air compressor, Be Cool aluminum radiator, and dual electric cooling fans. The battery is secured, the horns are connected, and Billet Specialties strut-assisted hood hinges and support bars are installed. The underside of the hood, inner fenders, and firewall are painted to match the body, and the hood-latch assembly was replaced. The trunk lid and jamb are painted body color, and the trunk compartment has billet hinges, replaced weatherstripping and lock mechanism, and solid rust-free metal finished in textured paint. The steering system was rebuilt with replaced components and a CPP close-ratio steering gearbox. The front suspension was upgraded with tubular upper and lower control arms, QA1 adjustable coilovers, and a sway bar, while the rear leaf springs and shocks were replaced or refreshed. The braking system uses power-assisted Wilwood disc brakes at all four wheels, and the emergency brake is connected. The exhaust system includes long-tube headers, oxygen sensors, an X-pipe, and Flowmaster mufflers. The fuel tank was replaced with a Holley Sniper-compatible unit, new mounting straps were installed, and an external electric fuel pump was added. A built Turbo 350 automatic transmission with a chrome pan, new mount, and 2,500-rpm stall converter sends power to a 12-bolt Eaton Positraction rear end with 3.55 gears and a replaced differential cover and bolts. The underside of the engine is clean and fitted with a high-torque starter. The floors are solid and rust-free with black paint, the frame was prepared and painted, and the body-mount bushings were replaced. Completed service work included repairing vacuum leaks and the windshield wipers and adjusting a window.
